WELCOME
Hello, I'm Becca and I am a mixed media artist with a degree in Fine Art from the University of Gloucestershire.

My work oscillates between pure and semi abstraction, often depicting that which is associated with the natural scape of the coast. My paintings comprise of fluid, gestural, mark making aiming to mimic the similar free flowing, non-analytical state of being we reach during meditative experiences.

My practice aims to examine that of the seen and unseen, and the gap between the two; questioning if that space acts a boundary or a point at which the two merge and symbiotically co-exist. The work presents a depiction of the physical external and an interpretation of the inner space residing within the self, provoking an awareness and encouraging an inward observation. There is emphasis on creating space; however that may resonate with the viewer, drawing on the contrasts of solitude and connection – how the feeling of isolation in the vastness can paradoxically bring closer connection to one's self.

My practice stems from an interest surrounding the workings of the human mind. Drawing on ideas within Eastern philosophy and the structure of the human psyche, my work aims to induce an awareness of the ongoing mental dialogue being more frequently experienced in the somewhat chaotic nature of modern society. Through creating space and immersive imagery, a quiet perception is encouraged; a momentary stilling of the egoic mind and a paradoxical realization of mental noise when residing in the silence.

Finding spaciousness in the external, refuge in the natural world and a disconnect from disordered aspects of ego, I hope my work exposes a vulnerability, a softness and a momentary discovery of inner calm, however that may resonate with you.
